As part of a quality improvement (QI) project, the Okaloosa County Health Department (OCHD) used QI techniques, such as a Force Field Analysis and Process Mapping, to improve media communications. By developing a comprehensive communications plan that includes a master communications calendar, plans for routine and risk communication, and an electronic database to track media and stakeholder requests and outcomes, OCHD is now able to track trends in media requests and better utilize the media to communicate with the public and stakeholders.
