Utilizing results from the NACCHO Local Health Department Self-Assessment Tool, Saginaw County Department of Public Health in Michigan chose to focus on improving their capacity in Operational Definition Standard 1-C: "Conduct or contribute expertise to periodic community health assessments." Their project included: • Applying Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) methods; • Conducting a training workshop on CQI and health assessments with staff; and • Developing a curriculum on assessment methods to increase knowledge of standards and processes for conducting future community health assessments. Results of the training and project are available in this 52-page case example, as well as summarized in the one-page storyboard.
