The Friends of the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD) at CDC is a partner in NACCHO's National Health and Disability Workgroup. The mission of the CDC Disability and Health Team is to promote the health, well-being, independence, productivity, and full participation in society by people with disabilities. CDC monitors the health of people with disabilities; promotes inclusion of people with disabilities in public health programs; educates families, professionals, and the public; promotes inclusive policies; supports intervention strategies; and conducts research on the health of people with disabilities and health promotion interventions. This website is an excellent place to start for local health departments that want to increase disability inclusion. Resources, background, tips, and strategies for disability inclusion, healthy living, emergency preparedness, data and statistics (including the interactive Disability and Health Data System), and information for specific disability groups can be found on this website.
