Change Lab solutions developed a "How to Create and Implement Healthy General Plans: A Toolkit for Building Healthy, Vibrant Communities." This guide describes roles for both health officials and planners, details the community health assessment process, provides tools on how to write a healthy general plan, includes model health language, and gives detailed information on how to successfully implement a healthy general plan. While this guide does not specifically mention health in all polices (HiAP), it does provide good guidance on how health officials can work with their planning departments to positively impact a community's general plan. Several local jurisdictions such as Richmond, CA have incorporated HiAP into their general plans and this toolkit provides important information on how to affect a general plan that can be relevant to a local health official interested in incorporating HiAP into their general plan.
