The CDC recently published a Note from the Field describing how the Iowa Health Department used electronic media to inform the public, physicians and the media about the cyclosporiasis outbreak in that state. The information resulted in heavy media coverage (putting public health on Page 1), as well as resulted in several additional cases being diagnosed that may have been missed without the large volume of information.
