This tool was developed by the Wisconsin Division of Public Health Personal Protective Equipment Expert Panel to provide a calculation tool for estimating the amount of respirators and facemasks to consider stockpiling in anticipation of a pandemic influenza. Conceivably, a local health department's stockpile of respirators and facemasks for a pandemic influenza can be used for other public health responses but should then be replenished. This calculator is based on data and information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, and the U.S. Department of Labor. The tool includes two documents-a guidance document in Word format and the calculator tool itself in an Excel spreadsheet.
