Unnatural Causes: Is inequality making us sick? is a groundbreaking documentary film series that examines the root causes of inequalities in health and challenges us to take action. The Commission has used the series as a tool to educate, convene, and enhance conversations with community residents, policy makers, health care institutions, educational institutions, and neighborhood organizations to understand and address the factors that make some communities healthier than others. Objective: To spark a broader dialogue and reflection of institutional work and to identify common areas of intersection and opportunities for action. Target Audience: All internal staff of an agency, governing body or business. Process and Timeline: Varies with size of agency, including number of sites an agency may have and breadth of departments. Estimate from 1-3 months. For agencies with multiple sites, identify an on-site point person who can liaison with staff and who can also effectively publicize and coordinate a viewing.
