NACCHO Has a New President |

Terry Allan, RS, MPH, Health Commissioner for the Cuyahoga County Board of Health (CCBH) in Northeast Ohio, became NACCHO’s new President on April 1. Former President John Wiesman, DrPH, MPH, CPH vacated the position prior to the end of his term to accept an appointment from Washington Governor Jay Inslee to become the state’s Secretary of Health. Georgia F. Heise, DrPH, Director of the Three Rivers Health Department in Owenton, Kentucky also became NACCHO’s new President-elect on April 1. More » |

Over 1,500 local, state, and federal public health leaders will attend the 2013 Public Health Preparedness Summit at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis in Atlanta, Georgia, from March 12-15. NACCHO Commends Congress for Protecting the Public from Disease Outbreaks, Emergencies and Other Disasters |

The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) commends Congress for reauthorizing the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act (PAHPA). PAHPA’s Public Health Emergency Preparedness grants to state and local health departments are critical to ensuring that local health departments are able to prepare communities for disasters, respond if emergencies occur, and lend support throughout the recovery process. From labs identifying a new disease strain to distributing vaccines and drugs during a pandemic, local health departments depend on the programs authorized by PAHPA. More »

NACCHO Applauds 11 Public Health Departments Receiving New National Accreditation |

The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) congratulates the first nine local and two state health departments that have received accreditation from the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). Each went through a rigorous assessment process to become accredited.
