Date: April 15-16, 2014
Staff Representative: Resham Patel
The 2014 conference theme was Embracing the Future of Public Health and was held in Louisville, KY. NACCHO staff attended a portion of this conference and was invited to present on Project Public Health Ready (PPHR). Kentucky is considering increased participation in PPHR, a criteria-based public health preparedness program that assesses local health department capacity and capability to plan for, respond to, and recover from public health emergencies. Resham Patel from NACCHO was joined by Amanda Bogard from Barren River District Health Department, who was able to share her first-hand perspective about PPHR participation and recognition. Barren River District Health Department achieved PPHR recognition in 2006, and re-recognition in 2012.
