Presented by the Kansas Health Institute, Philadelphia Department of Public Health, Wichita State University Community Engagement Institute, and Health Resources in Action, these interactive sessions blend expert guidance, hands-on learning, and actionable resources.

Building upon lessons from Part 1, explore how to develop responsible, organization-wide AI policies. Dive into real-world examples, practical steps, and lessons from peers in the field, including insights from the Philadelphia Department of Public Health.

Webinar #1: Integrating Artificial Intelligence into Your Public Health Practice

Learning Objectives:     

  1. Establish a clear rationale for using AI by exploring public health applications and reflecting on your organization’s needs  

  1. Identify tasks that AI can support in your daily work. 

  1. Describe three key ethical considerations associated with the use of AI. 

  1. Create effective prompts to elicit meaningful and accurate responses  

  

  

🔍 What to Expect: 
AI is becoming increasingly accessible, and more embedded in many technologies, emphasizing the growing need to understand how it can be leveraged ethically and responsibly to enhance work quality, improve efficiency, and support everyday tasks. In this 90-minute interactive webinar, delivered by the Kansas Health Institute and Wichita State University Community Engagement Institute, we will break down how to: 

  • Establish a clear rationale for using AI in your work

  • Identify practical use cases for AI in daily tasks while considering ethical implications 

  • Explore AI tools that can support day-to-day work 

  • Develop effective prompts to elicit meaningful and accurate responses 

  • Explore how peer organizations and public health groups are using AI    

Presenters will walk through real-world examples, such as improving documents (e.g., issue briefs and press releases), creating social media content, and other practical applications. Participants will also be familiarized with key AI-related definitions and concepts. To reinforce learning, the session will feature hands-on activities and opportunities for active engagement. 


Webinar #2:  A Recipe for Building Ethical AI Policies: Practical Steps, Real Examples, and Lessons from the Field 

June 3 | 2-3:30 PM ET 

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Describe the steps involved in setting up a process for AI policy development.  

  1. Describe key issues that should be addressed in AI policies, including bias mitigation, human oversight, data privacy, transparency, and capacity building. 

  1. Apply the Developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policies for Public Health Organizations resource to draft or refine their organization’s AI policy.

Join us for a practical and interactive webinar designed to build your capacity to develop clear, effective, and thoughtful AI policies for your organization. This session includes interactive opportunities to help participants reflect and engage more effectively with the topic. Even if you’re not directly writing policy, this webinar will help you participate in key conversations and understand how AI guidelines shape ethical and effective public health work.
