Highlights: The National Emergency Management Association (NEMA) convened its Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) Advisory Committee and Joint Policy Workgroup on consecutive days. The membership of these groups includes representatives from Federal agencies, national associations, and state and local government agencies involved in emergency management and public health. The purpose of the meetings was to provide members an update on EMAC and other policy-related activities and obtain their feedback on a number of projects. These include training courses NEMA is developing and a joint project between the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) and NEMA to develop EMAC mission-ready packages for public health. There were also a number of presentations from state emergency managers on recent or upcoming state exercises, including the upcoming the eight-state New Madrid Earthquake Catastrophic Planning exercise led by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency.
