The Preparedness Policy Advisory Group (PPAG) held its monthly call on August 12. NACCHO’s Chief of Government Affairs kicked off the meeting with an update on the FY2016 Health and Human Services Appropriations, focusing on funding for the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC). During this call, PPAG members also heard from NACCHO’s Infectious Disease team regarding NACCHO’s current involvement in the Ebola Response, as well as through a short presentation highlighting the Disease Intervention Specialist (DIS) Certification Project. In addition, a representative from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Health Affairs, gave a presentation discussing the Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting Initiative (NSI), which just released the Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) Training for Public Health and Healthcare Partners. The next PPAG call will take place on September 9.
