The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary is bringing together the best minds to better prepare for and meet the unique needs of seniors and individuals with disabilities during disasters. The National Advisory Committee on Individuals with Disabilities and Disasters (NACIDD) and National Advisory Committee on Seniors and Disasters (NACSD) is currently accepting applications from non-federal individuals with the expertise needed to provide diverse perspectives on issues critical to these populations and disasters to fill seven new voting member positions within each committee. Selected members will evaluate issues and programs to provide findings, advice, and recommendations to support and enhance all-hazards public health and medical preparedness, response activities, and recovery related to meeting the unique needs of these populations specifically during disaster events.
Specific qualifications for the voting member positions, as well as duties and details of the committee members are described in detail in their respective charters (NACIDD, NACSD). Voting members are appointed to the advisory committees by the Secretary of HHS to three-year terms as unpaid, Special Government Employees.
The application deadline has been extended to 11:59p.m. on July 12, 2021, and specific application instructions are posted here on the ASPR website. SMEs may apply to each committee separately, though applicants may serve on only one. All applications must be complete and sent in electronic format to [email protected] or [email protected] (dependent on the committee applicants are submitting consideration for) by the noted July 12, 2021 date.
