Health Security, a bimonthly peer-reviewed journal garnering an international audience, recently issued a call for papers on the topic of “Communication and Health Security: Improving Public Health Communication in Response to Large-Scale Health Threats.” Accepted papers will be featured in a special feature of the journal’s March/April 2018 issue. Scholarly and review articles, descriptions of practice, and opinion and commentary pieces are welcome. Manuscripts can be up to 5,000 words exclusive of the abstract, tables, figures, and references.
Examples of paper topics include:
- exploration of the communication environment during recent infectious disease events or public health disasters;
- investigation of the role of social media and other emerging or recently emerged communication platforms during infectious disease events or public health disasters;
- examination of the potential effects of communication efforts on public understanding during infectious disease events or public health disasters;
- new insights on the role of misinformation in communication during infectious disease events or public health disasters;
- consideration of official communication strategies during infectious disease events or public health disasters;
- activity reports of response agencies’ communication efforts during infectious disease events or public health disasters.
