Over the past decade, the annual rate of reported acute hepatitis C cases tripled in the U.S, and the disease burden has shifted, with the rate of reported cases highest among people aged 20-39 years of age. Approximately four in 10 people with hepatitis C in the U.S. do not know they are infected.
To address this, CDC has released a new Vital Signs detailing the dramatic increase in hepatitis C and a new campaign, Know More Hepatitis, that encourages all adults to get tested for hepatitis C in accordance with CDC’s updated hepatitis C screening recommendations.
