A new interactive tool from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) makes the process of searching for currently available grant data much more accessible and transparent. The new tool allows users to see a visual representation of the agency’s federal grant data in the categories of fire, preparedness, mitigation, and public assistance. Users simply select a state or territory from a map, and the tool generates applicable data for that location. The tool also visualizes disaster declarations by state, hazard, and county. Additionally, it provides links for further education, resources, and volunteer opportunities.
A BETA version of the data visualization tool is available for use on FEMA’s website. FEMA is currently seeking comments and suggestions on how the tool can be improved, and plans to incorporate new data and visual styles based on those suggestions into future updates.
