NACCHO is pleased to offer a funding opportunity to local health departments (LHDs) to rapidly scale up innovative COVID-19 education, testing, contact tracing, vaccination, and other prevention and mitigation strategies with refugee, immigrant, and migrant (RIM) communities.
RIM populations, which include people residing the United States who were born in another country, have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. With support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, NACCHO will provide funding and technical assistance to LHDs and RIM communities to partner to implement and evaluate innovative approaches to COVID-19 contact tracing, testing, education, vaccination, and other prevention and mitigation strategies. The goals of this funding opportunity are to improve COVID-19 prevention and mitigation and reduce inequities in COVID-19 morbidity and mortality in funded jurisdictions and to identify best practices and sustainable models for preventing COVID-19 and other communicable diseases through partnerships between LHDs and RIM populations.
LHDs are encouraged to apply regardless of the current status of their partnerships with RIM communities but must include a Memorandum of Understanding or Letter of Support from an organization that serves RIM communities in their jurisdiction or leaders within the local RIM community. Community-based organizations serving RIM communities are also eligible to apply with a Memorandum of Understanding or Letter of Support from the LHD in their jurisdiction.
Applicants can request up to $175,000 to conduct activities under Tier One, which includes the implementation of at least one primary prevention strategy, or up to $250,000 to conduct activities under Tier Two, which involves implementing a second primary or secondary prevention activity. Applications are due June 11, 2021 at 11:59 PM PT. For additional information, access the Request for Applications (RFA) here.
NACCHO hosted an informational webinar for potential applicants on Monday, May 17, 2021 to review the RFA and respond to questions. View a recording of the webinar here. Access frequently asked questions about the funding opportunity here.
