Greener parks are those that mitigate climate impacts, promote community health and well-being, and address social challenges through green infrastructure. Now, National Recreation and Park Association’s (NRPA’s) Greener Parks for Health resources, including a Communications Toolkit, Policy Action Framework and Advocacy Toolkit, help ensure these parks are valued, funded and equitably distributed within communities. As part of NRPA’s Climate and Health Advisory committee, NACCHO helped provide feedback for the creation of these resources.
This project is part of a larger effort to equip park and recreation professionals with the tools, knowledge and resources needed to advance equitable access to greener parks across the country. This suite of resources offers a variety of research-informed messages, tools and policy solutions to help park and recreation professionals communicate about, advocate for and institutionalize green infrastructure in parks.
