NACCHO is seeking to increase membership in its Local Public Health Communications Exchange, a community of practice for health department PIOs and communications practitioners. This is a project funded by CDC, and currently in its third year. This online platform, hosted on Honey.is, aims to connect local public health communicators across the country to build capacity to develop, disseminate, and evaluate a range of public health communications activities, from writing a press release to evaluating a campaign. In particular, the community of practice allows users to access, share, and download communications tools, templates, and resources; establish partnerships and working relationships with peers located both within and outside of your region or state; engage in discussions to share best practices and challenges related to a variety of communications topics (e.g., cultural competence, risk and emergency communication, marketing and branding); and search for and share in-person and virtual training opportunities to build communications skills. If you’re interested in joining or have questions, please contact Andrea Grenadier, Communications Specialist, at [email protected]
