The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) workgroup convened via conference call on February 23, 2015. For the past two months, the workgroup has been working diligently to shape the MRC mentorship program. Descriptions and applications for both mentors and mentees have been drafted, and the workgroup is currently working with NACCHO to identify selection criteria and iron out timelines and processes by the end of the workgroup’s term.
The MRC workgroup is also working to review and offer revisions to NACCHO’s MRC Toolbox. The MRC Toolbox has been collecting various resources for MRC unit leaders for several years on a variety of topics. There are 24 tools under review.
Lastly, the workgroup is gearing up for the 2015 Preparedness Summit. The Preparedness Summit is the one time MRC workgroup members meet face to face and hold their only in-person meeting of the year. Aside from the annual in-person meeting, several workgroup members have roles as presentation speakers, poster presenters, and exhibitors. The workgroup plans to have NACCHO’s MRC toolbox revision and MRC mentorship details finalized in the coming months.
