A new research article titled “Review of Health Impact Assessments Informing Agriculture, Food, and Nutrition Policies, Programs, and Projects in the United States,” was recently published in the Journal of Agriculture, Food Systems and Community Development. Based on a study conducted by the Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future (CLF) in the Bloomberg School of Public Health, the article identifies Health Impact Assessments (HIAs) as a valuable asset for stakeholders to effectively gauge the impact of a policy, plan, and/or project on the status of public health. Research authors also emphasize leveraging HIAs as a substantial opportunity for agricultural/food sector to limit potential health risks related to decisions impacting the food system.
