On October 3, 2016, President Obama declared October 2016 as National Youth Substance Use And Substance Use Disorder Prevention Month. In the proclamation, President Obama encourages people to “engage in appropriate programs and activities to promote comprehensive prevention efforts to reduce youth substance use and substance use disorders within their communities.” Stay tuned throughout the month as NACCHO shares information and resources on youth substance abuse, and consider submitting a Story from the Field to share your local health department’s efforts to address youth substance abuse.
