The Public Health Associate Program (PHAP) from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will be accepting applications January 3-19, 2017 to host a public health associate starting in October 2017. PHAP is a two-year training program designed to train and provide experiential learning to early-career public health professionals. It’s a great opportunity to build your organization’s internal workforce capacity and have an impact on developing the skills of the future public health workforce. Associate’s salary and benefits are paid by CDC.

The CDC-sponsored training program is for individuals with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree with little or no public health work experience, but who are interested in a career in public health. PHAP enables early-career public health professionals to gain hands-on, real-life experience in the day-to-day operations of public health programs. Agencies eligible to apply to host an associate include state, tribal, local, and territorial public health departments; non-governmental organizations, and CDC quarantine stations. Associates often hold positions that help to build host site capacity to provide public health services.

CDC developed a two-part technical assistance webinar series for organizations interested in learning more about PHAP and applying to host an associate.
