Highlights: NACCHO staff members attended the release of the new National Health Security Preparedness Index (NHSPI), an initiative from the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and 20 other development partners, including NACCHO. The NHSPI examines the health security preparedness of the nation by looking collectively at data collected from states, and helps guide efforts to achieve a higher level of health security preparedness. Staff heard from NHSPI leadership, including representatives from Mississippi and Texas, who discussed how the the new Index would have an impact on their preparedness efforts at the state and local levels. The Index examines 128 different measures of a state’s preparedness, and will be updated on an annual basis. Learn more about how the NHSPI affects local health departments.
