Request for Applications: Infection Prevention and Control Learning Collaborative

Nov 16, 2023 | Kimberly Nalley, Irene Halferty

NACCHO is proud to be a partner of CDC’s Project Firstline, a comprehensive infection control program designed to help prevent the spread of infectious disease in U.S. healthcare settings through promotion of infection prevention and control (IPC) practices. Through this partnership, we are excited to announce our new project: the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Learning Collaborative.

The focus of NACCHO’s Project Firstline work is to build the capacity of local health departments (LHDs) to deliver training and education to healthcare facility partners in their community. The IPC Learning Collaborative will provide technical assistance, mentorship, and funding for LHDs to learn IPC fundamentals and adult learning principles.

NACCHO will issue two funding amounts for the IPC Learning Collaborative depending on the category of engagement: LHDs applying as mentees will be eligible to receive $80,000, and those seeking to serve as mentors will be eligible to receive $100,000. Actual funding amounts are dependent upon completion of required activities, which are outlined in the Request for Applications (RFA) document.

The funding from the IPC Learning Collaborative project provides LHDs the opportunity to build capacity to train clinical and non-clinical healthcare facility staff on IPC basics and best practices. All awardees will participate in:

  • A mentorship program,
  • Regular project check-in calls,
  • A mentor site visit,
  • An in-person convening, and
  • Training activities for LHD staff.

The project period is expected to begin on January 16, 2024 and will end June 30, 2024. Applications must be submitted through the online submission form no later than December 20, 2023, at 11:59PM PDT.

All necessary information regarding the project and application process may be found in this Request for Applications (RFA) or on a subsequent Frequently Asked Questions document, if necessary. Applicants may ask questions at any point during the application process by e-mailing [email protected] and CC Kimberly Nalley at [email protected].
