NACCHO is seeking a qualified consultant to conduct a series of activities aimed at better understanding and amplifying the needs, available resources, challenges, strategies, and stories of rural Local Health Departments (LHDs) and their communities related to overdose prevention and response.
Specifically, NACCHO will provide up to $250,000 in funding to a consultant to:
- Conduct an environmental scan and gap analysis
- Identify subpopulations within rural communities that have been disproportionately impacted by overdose or historically marginalized
- Convene two subject matter expert roundtables
- Conduct a series of interviews with LHDs and their community partners to collect qualitative data on rural overdose prevention and response
- Develop a set of recommendations on best practices and strategies for engagement related to rural overdose prevention and response
- Develop a two-part report to share the results of the scan and gap analysis, interviews, and final recommendations
The ideal consultant should have experience working with LHDs and rural communities and utilizing a health equity framework to guide their work. Additionally, the consultant should have subject matter expertise related to overdose prevention and response. Full details can be found in the Request for Proposal (RFP) linked here.
