Resources for Routine Immunization Uptake

Apr 12, 2023

During the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a significant drop in routine immunizations for adults and children. While the numbers are recovering, they are not recovering evenly across all groups. It is crucial that we take steps to help get everyone on schedule with their routine immunizations. Local health departments are a vital part of these efforts.

According to ACIP, routine schedules are as follows:

NACCHO’s Immunization Team in partnership with the Immunization Workgroup has developed a messaging and communications toolkit for routine vaccinations. Convened monthly, NACCHO’s Immunization Workgroup provides expert opinion on immunization policy and practice to prevent illness and death from vaccine-preventable disease and emerging infectious diseases.

This toolkit includes sample posts and shareable graphics to promote the uptake of routine vaccinations in your community. The topics covered include:

  • Herd immunity
  • Vaccine Safety
  • Infant and Baby Vaccine Schedule

The toolkit also features numerous tips and best practices for posting on social media.

The CDC Initiative Let’s RISE (Routine Immunizations on Schedule for Everyone) goal is to provide actionable strategies, resources, and data to support getting all Americans back on-schedule with their routine immunizations to protect everyone from vaccine-preventable disease and disability. Toolkit includes:

  • Data for Action

The CDC is encouraging community leaders, health care professionals, and partners to identify those that are behind, and ensure that everyone catches up on their routine vaccinations. Specifically, local health departments can utilize the many strategies and resources that are provided on the RISE webpage.
