The National Center for Food Protection and Defense (NCFPD) is now accepting applications for its Science and Engineering Workforce Development Grant (WDG). This grant is for graduate-level students enrolled in a homeland security-related science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics (HS-STEM) program that aligns with NCFPD’s mission. Applicants must have achieved and maintained a GPA of 3.3 or higher and be U.S. citizens. This opportunity is limited to two students.
WDG Awardees will complete (2) 10-week summer-internships, attend an annual Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Summer Conference, and participate in the NCFPD portal, among other activities. Awardees must commit to working in the Homeland Security arena for at least one year beyond the tenure of award.
In exchange for their commitment, students will receive a holistic education experience and be immersed in the food defense and agriculture field. WDG Awardees also receive substantial tuition support, a living stipend of $2,700 per month for 24 months, funds for books and supplies, and travel funds for student trips, including trips required by the WDG program.
