Public Health – Seattle & King County (PHSKC), like many local health jurisdictions, has been working for years to build community resilience in order to withstand the impacts of emergencies. Building community resilience can be challenging and has many elements: partnering with community and faith based-organizations, fostering relationships for a tighter knit community, and engaging volunteers, to name a few. As a county covering over 2,000 square miles, with a population of over 2 million people and over 170 spoken languages, we experience an added level of complexity to building resilience.
