World TB Day: Nominations Open for U.S. TB Elimination Champions

Feb 05, 2024 | Irene Halferty

World TB Day is recognized annually on March 24, with a variety of activities leading up to the official day. The annual event commemorates the date Dr. Robert Koch announced his discovery of the bacillus that causes tuberculosis (TB).

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Division of TB Elimination has shared some information to assist in World TB Day 2024 planning efforts.

U.S. TB Elimination Champions

Nominations for the CDC U.S. TB Elimination Champions are now open! They are seeking nominations that reflect the important contributions that individuals, TB survivors, agencies, organizations, and partners have made to eliminate TB. CDC’s U.S. TB Champions will have their stories featured on CDC’s website, X/Twitter, and Facebook accounts. You can view last year’s champions here.

Visit the CDC website to learn more about the nomination process. Nominations are due via email to [email protected] or by using the hashtag #TBEliminationChampion on X/Twitter by February 16, 2024.

World TB Day Digital Toolkit

CDC’s World TB Day digital toolkit has graphics, social media content, and videos to help spread the message to think, test, and treat TB.
