With COVID-19 posing challenges to options such as fitness and recreation centers, this blog will provide guidance on how local health departments can promote physical activity for people with disabilities during the pandemic.
As part of the National Association of County and City Health Officials’ (NACCHO’s) work to support and serve 3,000 local health departments (LHDs) in the United States, NACCHO has been releasing a bi-weekly blog consisting of an up-to-date collection of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) resources for our members working at the intersection of environmental health and COVID-19.
Suffolk County (NY) mentored Franklin County (OH)’s new tick surveillance program as part of NACCHO’s Vector Control Collaborative. COVID-19 travel restrictions did not stop the expansion of tick species, nor did they stop this virtual mentorship. FaceTime tick dragging is a socially-distanced and low-cost way to receive technical assistance for field work.
