The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) Global Warming and Health Project has launched a web tool, titled Climate Change Threatens Health. The site is an interactive map about serious climate change threats where you live and what to do about them. This web tool brings the implications of climate change down to the local level by using mapping technology that allows users to zoom in on the climate-related threats facing communities in every state, learn about whats needed to protect their families, and how to reduce climate change. The site is really about connecting the dots between climate change and local health impacts, and the need for public health preparedness plans. NRDC hopes that this resource will stimulate discussions about locally-relevant climate-health research, vulnerability mapping, and the need for more preparedness planning and implementation, as well as reducing carbon pollution.
