The Guide to Community Preventive Services (Community Guide) is a free, online resource that can help public health professionals learn about evidence-based programs and policies. Systematic reviews are used to answer these questions: Which program and policy interventions have been proven effective? Are there effective interventions that are right for my community? What might effective interventions cost; what is the likely return on investment? The National Association of County and City Health Officials has created a document that summarizes the Community Guide recommendations for tobacco control and prevention. These include recommendations to: Increase cessation and reduce initiation of tobacco use, Reduce exposure to secondhand smoke, and Restrict minors' access to tobacco products.
