Local Opioid Prevention and Response: A Primer for Local Health Departments serves to inform local health departments about the domestic opioid epidemic and share success stories from LHDs currently engaged in opioid-related efforts. The Primer covers five types of activities: 1) monitoring and surveillance, 2) prevention, 3) harm reduction, 4) linkages to care, and 5) stakeholder engagement and community partnerships, and includes informative sidebars, links to resources, and frequently asked questions.
