In 2012, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) developed the radiation legal preparedness project (RLP) to assess state and local legal authorities related to the response to and recovery from a radiation incident. This project is based upon research and analysis of the relevant state and local legal authorities related to response and recovery for a radiation incident, and focused on all 50 states and three large cities. The RLP project is intended to illustrate the current legal landscape of authorities available to decontaminate and restrict the movement of individuals following a radiological incident and help guide conversation to prepare for potential legal considerations in the response effort. This webinar will provide an overview of the project, the relevant findings to date and will discuss important legal considerations that underpin a radiological response.
