The Walk Around Nevada Program is a free, web-based walking and and physical activity program. The program allows participants to log and track their miles or steps and then watch their progress as they virturally walk around the state of Nevada. The program includes an activity conversion chart so that participants can convert other physical activities into miles or steps that can be entered into the program. As participants progress, they reach certain geographic milestones and once there, a pop-up window appears that provides a brief background on the location. Along the way, health and safety pop-ups appear and provide tips, resources and information on safety, physical activity and nutrition. Participants can create on-line walking groups or download a listing of actual walking groups that meet on a regular basis. The program is available in English and Spanish and can be accessed at the Southern Nevada Health District, Office of Chronic Disease Prevention Health Promotion website at: http://www.gethealthyclarkcounty.org/ www.gethealthyclarkcounty.org
