Climate for Health Ambassadors Training at NACCHO 360

Jun 10, 2020 | Anu Varma

This year at NACCHO 360, we wanted to raise an exciting opportunity for NACCHO members. NACCHO is partnering with Climate for Health to offer an interactive pre-conference workshop, “Climate for Health Ambassadors Training: Building Capacity to Act on Climate Change.” This interactive training, scheduled for July 6 from 1:00 - 5:00 PM ET, will cover the links between climate and health, explore the spectrum of solutions, review ways we can speak effectively on the topic, and leverage opportunities to act and advocate.

As we witness and experience climate impacts on our health, livelihoods, and communities, people are increasingly looking for guidance on climate solutions from trusted health leaders.

This training will equip health professionals with the knowledge, resources, and support to speak and act confidently on climate change and solutions. Participants will be able to empower their colleagues, associations, constituents, the public, and policymakers in making a change on climate solutions that help protect the health of our families and communities now, and ensure a prosperous, just, and secure future.

  • Section 1: Introduction, Climate Change Overview, and Climate Impacts on Health
  • Section 2: Climate Solutions and Health Benefits (National, State, Local, professional, and personal levels)
  • Section 3: Advocacy and Engagement: Communicating on Climate and Health (language guidance, creating a personalized climate message)

Upon completion of the training, NACCHO members will be offered the option to receive a “Climate for Health Ambassador” designation. These leaders will receive support to present on climate and health, and take specific advocacy action on climate solutions.

Registration for the upcoming pre-conference workshop, “Climate for Health Ambassadors Training: Building Capacity to Act on Climate Change” at NACCHO 360, is now OPEN. This workshop is offered through the conference at no additional charge. Choose event code “WS01” for this workshop during the registration process.
