Boston, MA is a vibrant community of over 600,000 people representing diverse populations including Chinese, Vietnamese, Cape Verdean, Creole Haitian, Hispanic, and Latino communities. As indicated in the New Bostonians Demographic Report, only 66.6% of Bostonians speak English as a native language, which is not surprising considering 140 languages are spoken in the city. Convincing any audience to prepare for a disaster is challenging, and this challenge is amplified when attempting to reach a variety of cultures.
