The distribution of smoking supplies is a promising harm reduction strategy to engage people who use drugs, prevent infectious diseases and potentially reduce overdoses. Building off previous work, The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) held a webinar in association with the Opioid Response Network (ORN) entitled, “Evaluating the Distribution of Smoking Supplies as a Harm Reduction Strategy” on September 30th, 2024. This webinar reviewed the background of distributing smoking supplies as a harm reduction strategy and went over the results of a project that funded six sites to evaluate their distribution of smoking supplies. Being Alive and Public Health Madison and Dane County, two funded sites, shared their findings and answered audience questions. You can find the webinar slides here and the recording here.
