NACCHO is pleased to release a final report, titled Toward a More Responsive HIV Response: Community Priorities and Public Health Partnership in the South, developed in partnership with the Southern AIDS Coalition. The report captures insights from community-centered convenings held in six Southern Ending the HIV Epidemic priority jurisdictions: Atlanta, Jackson, Houston, Baton Rouge, Memphis, and Miami.
Community stakeholders identified several shared priorities, including more flexible and equitable funding, stronger collaboration between public health and community partners, investment in representative leadership and workforce development, affirming HIV messaging, and whole-person approaches that address housing, transportation, mental health, violence, stigma, and other non-medical drivers of health.
The report offers practical recommendations for health departments, federal partners, funders, community-based organizations, and technical assistance providers seeking to build stronger partnerships and more responsive systems of HIV prevention, care, and support.
