Join a Preparedness Workgroup

Through April 30, NACCHO’s preparedness workgroups are accepting applications for 2024-2025 with terms beginning July 1. Workgroup members serve an advisory role in developing programs and policy that are representative of the needs of local health departments.

The following preparedness workgroups are accepting applications.

Medical Countermeasures: Addresses issues related to the medical countermeasures enterprise. Seeks to align its work with CDC’s Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) capabilities 8 & 9 and the ASPR’s Public Health Emergency Medical Countermeasures Enterprise (PHEMCE) strategy.

Medical Reserve Corps: Provides leadership, guidance, and direction to NACCHO’s MRC Program, which seeks to align its work with the MRC Program Office, Office of Preparedness, Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response.

Preparedness Planning, Outcomes, and Measurement: Focuses strongly on work surrounding the community resilience domain of the PHEP capabilities but will also include broad work with all PHEP capabilities related to performance measures, outcomes, and administrative and legal preparedness.

Preparedness Policy Advisory Group: Provides feedback and comments on a variety of federal public health preparedness policy issues and initiatives to strengthen the voice of local health departments on national policy issues related to the planning, response, and recovery from disasters and other emergencies.

Radiation: Members work to increase LHD awareness of tools, resources, and information related to radiological preparedness.

Surge Management: Addresses topics related to PHEP Capability 5: Fatality Management, 7: Mass Care, and 10: Medical Surge; as well as those public health and non-public health led activities focused on the coordinated efforts of partners in healthcare, public health, and other preparedness and response organizations.
