Engaging Local Health Departments to Identify Food Safety Best Practices During a Public Health Emergency

Learn about the challenges identified by local health departments as impacting food safety practices at the local level during the COVID-19 pandemic. Attendees will walk away with recommendations on how retail food regulatory programs can improve retail food safety activities and strengthen their preparedness for the next public health emergency.

Learn about how FDA funded grant programs help retail food regulatory programs increase enrollment and participation in the Voluntary National Retail Food Regulatory Program Standards. NACCHO will share the results of a study conducted on how participating in these grant programs have impacted the amount of time it takes food regulatory programs to submit the required self-assessment and verification audit documentation. Attendees will walk away with an understanding of the role that grant programs play in building capacity to protect food safety.

NACCHO and CFP will share the results of their study conducted on how networks help to enhance local food safety programs. Attendees will walk away with an understanding of the role that networks play in retail food regulatory programs as well as strategies, best practices, and lessons learned by those who have participated in networks.

Sharing Our Experiences: What It’s Like to Participate in the RFFM Mentorship Program

Learn from the first two cohorts of the Mentorship Program under the RFFM! This is an opportunity to hear stories from mentorship participants and to ask questions if you’re wondering what it’s like to be a mentor or be mentored. NACCHO will be leading a discussion with a panel of mentorship participants and creating a space for discussion between panelists and audience members. This will be a great opportunity to decide if your jurisdiction is ready to jump into the mentorship program!
