NACCHO Congenital Syphilis Compendium Summary

Jul 29, 2022 | Daisha Washington

The searchable Congenital Syphilis Compendium was launched by NACCHO, in conjunction with the CDC, to facilitate peer-to-peer learning and to create a repository of congenital syphilis interventions implemented across the United States.

As of June 2022, the Compendium has received a total of 57 intervention entries and an analysis of the submitted entries found many traditional interventions, such as disease investigation and ensuring recommended syphilis testing throughout pregnancy, as well as a few relatively new or enhanced entries.

Across all interventions submitted, four emerging themes were discovered including 1) Screening and Treatment; 2) Education, Awareness, and Resources; 3) Surveillance and Epidemiology; and 4) DIS work, Partner Services, and Case Management.

To find a breakdown of these entries with unique interventions highlighted for each theme, take a look at the summary here.
