The National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors (NASTAD) is pleased to announce the release of PrEPcost.org, an online tool that will help PrEP navigators and their clients evaluate the cost and coverage for PrEP across on- and off-Marketplace health plans. This newest release was launched for 2019 open enrollment.
The 2019 version includes several new features and updates, including the ability to search for providers, the ability to search for both on- and off-Marketplace plans and additional consumer assistance and enrollment support. PrEPcost.org is available in most states, and we continue to work to make the tool available in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The remaining states will be released on a rolling basis as health plan data become available, please return to the site in the coming days if plan information is not currently available in your jurisdiction.
The tool estimates the total monthly and annual cost of PrEP to the client under each plan, including monthly premiums and out-of-pocket costs. The new platform developed by Consumer’s Checkbook takes into account federal premium and cost-sharing assistance and the manufacturer’s PrEP co-pay assistance program, where applicable. The results will make it easy for navigators and their clients to compare plans and, once the client is ready to enroll in a plan, PrEPcost.org will connect them directly to trained health assistance professionals at HealthSherpa for help with eligibility screening and enrollment.
