Strengthening Public Health / Healthcare Relationships for Infection Prevention and Control: A Virtual Workshop for NACCHO Members

May 23, 2025 | Candice Young

This interactive 4-hour workshop will transform how you and your team think about and approach relationships with healthcare partners to prevent infections, respond to outbreaks, and protect community health.

Access more information on the workshop, the workshop video, slides & activities, IPC Partnership Roadmap, and Keys to Strong Partnerships resource here.

Why It Matters:

Effective healthcare infection prevention and control (IPC) requires seamless coordination between local health departments and healthcare facilities. Whether managing outbreak response, implementing prevention protocols, or sharing critical surveillance data, strong partnerships are essential for protecting patients, facility staff, and the community. Staff instability, cultural operational differences, strained trust, and data or communication barriers can hinder effective IPC partnerships. This workshop will help you think about partnerships in a new way and provide practical tools for building and sustaining effective partnerships.

Date & Time: Tuesday, June 24, 2025 | 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM EST

What You’ll Learn:

  • Build relationships across the partnership spectrum - from basic information sharing to transformational collaboration
  • Distinguish between buy-in and ownership to foster true commitment and accountability in IPC partnerships
  • Apply relationship-centered approaches to IPC partnerships
  • Use new strategies to overcome common barriers to IPC partnerships between your health department and healthcare facilities

Interactive Experience:

Through presentations, breakout sessions, and hands-on practice, you’ll gain practical tools to immediately enhance your IPC partnerships.

Who Should Attend:

Local health department staff who are involved in building partnerships with healthcare facilities for IPC

Spots were limited to 50 participants.

Up to 2 people per health department were able to attend.
