Local health departments (LHDs) are critical in responding to public health emergencies. These institutions formed the backbone of the COVID-19 response and have also responded to infectious disease threats such as Zika, influenza outbreaks, congenital syphilis, and RSV.
We asked our HAI/AR pilot project sites to reflect on their experiences and lessons learned since joining our project. Here is what one of our sites, the Cincinnati Health Department, shared with us.
In 2022, NACCHO hosted three in-person regional convenings with a total of 51 multisector professionals within the local health system to further investigate and identify best practices and solutions to improve the first 1,000 days of nutrition infrastructure in historically neglected communities.
NACCHO is pleased to announce the publication of a new guide Developing the Capacity to Support Clinical Older Adult Fall Prevention: A Guide for Local Health Departments and a corresponding workbook. This guide was developed with funding from the CDC for local health departments seeking to create community-care linkages for older adults who are at risk for falls.
NACCHO is seeking applications for two paid graduate-level fellowships to work as a part of the Health and Disability Project. This paid fellowship will start approximately October 2023 and run through July 31, 2024.
