A recent CDC study demonstrates a need for LHDs and other local harm reduction programs to ensure they are engaging people who smoke drugs to offer naloxone as well as overdose prevention and response messaging and education.
NACCHO released its 2022 National Profile of Local Health Departments Study (Profile Study) that describes local health department infrastructure, experiences, and services at the national level.
NACCHO has awarded nearly $350,000 in funding to seven Overdose Response Strategy (ORS) pilot projects to help address the overdose crisis in their communities.
Through this project, NACCHO worked with three public health organizations to implement and evaluate Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) for HRSU in STI clinics.
World AIDS day is recognized on December 1st each year to support those living with and affected by HIV, and remember those who have died from HIV-related illnesses.
