Long-term care facilities and nursing homes are facing challenging times. Between being short-staffed, COVID mitigation strategy implementation, and vaccine mandates to name a few, we recognize how important it is to maintain communication, provide education and support, as efficiently as possible.
In 2020, NACCHO, with the support of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), implemented the project, Supporting Local Health Departments to Increase Vaccine Uptake through COVID-19.
NACCHO, in partnership with HHS' ODPHP has released an issue brief and a compendium of stories highlighting the facilitators, challenges, lessons learned, and resource needs of LHDs promoting physical activity programs and policies.
In 2021, NACCHO and NCHH worked with teams in Boston, Cleveland, and Milwaukee and developed Stories from the Field highlighting the lead work being done in each of these communities as well has how they adjust with the COVID-19 Response.
NACCHO released a Health in All Policies success story from the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness. The department’s Center for Health Equity recently enacted a health impact assessment (HIA) program, with the goal of informing local and state policies that affect root causes of health outcomes using HIA agency wide. NACCHO recently published, From the Field: Improving Immunization Coverage and Services at the Local Level, a compendium of stories from the field that highlight local health department (LHD) immunization initiatives.
