To ensure informed chemical safety decisions can be made about thousands of chemicals, decision makers and health professionals need a constantly evolving set of tools for quickly and efficiently evaluating chemicals of interest. The National Tuberculosis Controllers Association (NTCA) is seeking LHD participants for national assessment of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on tuberculosis (TB) programs across the United States and in the USAPI territories.
As communities continue to implement physical distancing recommendations to slow the spread of COVID-19, many have turned to innovative solutions to address social isolation and loneliness. Local government and community leaders have enlisted technology to aid in strengthening social connection. At the same time, many have taken steps to close gaps in access to technology.
Less than 15% of adults with disabilities meet the recommended 150 minutes each week of physical activity. With COVID-19 posing challenges to options such as fitness and recreation centers, this blog will provide guidance on how local health departments can promote physical activity for people with disabilities during the pandemic.
If the pandemic has taught us one thing, it is the importance of preparedness. Additionally, it has heightened the importance of public health leadership in the face of a crisis. As you assess and plan for the future needs of your local health department, consider the competencies needed in your physician leadership.
