The Virginia Department of Health developed COVID-19 Regional Surge Teams to augment capacity to the local health districts (LHDs) by providing highly qualified staff to assist with case investigations and contact tracing (CI/CT) and additional public health projects. This model enabled a flexible, highly competent, regionally managed response team that was adaptable to local needs.
NACCHO’s Project Public Health Ready (PPHR) is pleased to recognize three agencies from Florida for their ability to plan for, respond to, and recover from public health emergencies.
At the 2022 NACCHO360 Annual Conference, the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) and our partners explored how the local public health workforce and its stakeholders can move forward amid an ongoing crisis while implementing traditional and innovative approaches to restructure a system built to protect the health of communities nationwide.
